The Challenge

Kenya needs 250K more skilled construction workers. However, only 30% of the current workforce are trained - and just 3% of these are women.

The Innovation

Holistic curriculum that combines technical training with wellness and entrepreneurship. This approach ensures individual contracting jobs within 6-12 months of graduation. Gather’s funding will scale BuildHer’s green construction training programs.

Tatu Gatere
CEO, BuildHer

“Gather paused long enough to understand the full reality of our work. They engaged the complexity of gender, livelihoods, workforce development, and construction without simplifying it. They listened to what we face on the ground and the structural barriers shaping outcomes for the women we serve. Together we are focusing on what matters most: leadership, strategy, and the systems that carry an organization through scale. They help us sharpen priorities, strengthen execution, and build processes we can depend on.

This partnership brings support and accountability. It is disciplined, aligned, and built on a real understanding of the work. The kind of funder relationship leaders seek but rarely experience.
