The Challenge

Post-harvest losses remain a key bottleneck for Kenya’s smallholder farmers at 20% - 30% with mango exhibiting higher losses at 36%. In addition, women’s limited ownership of assets undermine their ability to generate income.

The Innovation

Drying is a relatively easy to use solution for value addition. Building a future where women go beyond farming, owning  micro-processors, driving economic growth.

Gather’s mission and commitment to women asset ownership permeates through all our collaboration efforts, different from conversations we have had with other funders. Our partnership with Gather will enable us to co-create a women ownership model for microprocessors in rural Kenya which will increase women’s income by up to 4x while reducing post harvest losses.”
